Hydrogen bus
The transition to zero-emission mobility represents a major challenge for passenger transport operators, whether they are urban, intercity or long-distance, public or private. Our H2 bus solutions can be used to decarbonize new or existing bus and coach fleets, without compromising on operational flexibility and user comfort. There are no limits to your network with our hydrogen fuel cell bus solutions.
Customized, ready-to-deploy H2 bus solutions to support managers and operators
We design, develop and industrialize hydrogen fuel cell systems that are already operating in bus and coach fleets. A zero-emission experience that combines the ease of use of diesel or NGV (Natural Gas Vehicles) with all the benefits of electric powertrain for more sustainable transport.
- No noise nuisance, zero CO2 emissions at use.
- Generous range, enabling buses to be run for two consecutive days without refuelling.
- Fast refuelling reduced to just a few minutes for maximum operational flexibility and uptime.
- Greater on-board energy density, for optimized passenger capacity and thermal comfort.
Easy infrastructure deployment in depots: no need to increase the number of electric charging stations, no need to connect to the electricity grid.

Unmatched value proposition for your hydrogen bus
COMPACTNESS: our latest-generation StackPack 75 product, specially designed for bus applications, offers twice the power density while being 20% lighter than current market references.
POWER AND EFFICIENCY: our systems are among the most hydrogen-efficient, with a total system efficiency of 53%(1).
COOLING: our systems require 30% less cooling capacity than the average.
MONITORING: direct access to fuel cell data to optimize operation and enable predictive maintenance as well as a diagnosis in case of breakdown
All these elements contribute to reducing the total cost of ownership of fuel cell bus.

An integrated approach, complete mastery of the value chain
Our mastery of fuel cell core components, MEAs and BPPs (bipolar plates) along with our expertise in vehicle architectures mean we can support you at every stage in the process, design, architecture development, hybridization strategy, integration, and pre-production (POC) to mass production. We deploy zero-emission mobility solutions that will make all the difference.
Symbio, partner to the pioneers of zero-emission bus/coach mobility
SAFRA / French hydrogen bus pioneer
Symbio is Safra's fuel cell partner for the HYCITY®. Equipped with a 45-kW Symbio StackPack, it offers a minimum range of 350 km and a recharge time of less than 10 minutes. This zero-emission bus helps decarbonize urban centers, while offering a noise- and vibration-free passenger experience. In 2023, these new hydrogen buses are already a reality in many French towns and cities.
GCK / Hydrogen retrofit pioneer in France
Symbio equips the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region's Iveco Crossway, the first operational coach in France to be retrofitted with hydrogen by GCK and to meet the usual use and operation requirements. The combination of two StackPacks enables the system to achieve a maximum power of 150 kW, fueled by 34 kg of hydrogen at a pressure of 700 bar. The system supplies the required electricity to a 320-kW electric motor, enabling the coach to maintain its original performance and characteristics (range of 400 km, 19-ton payload).
GCK is already rolling out its solutions in a number of towns and cities in France, including Albi, Le Mans, Versailles, and more.
