Symbio Hydrogen Academy, developing H2 skills
By 2030, the hydrogen industry will represent 100,000 jobs. The success of hydrogen as a solution for accelerating zero-emission mobility will therefore depend on the sharing of hydrogen-specific knowledge that is not yet fully integrated into academic curricula. Starting 2021, Symbio Hydrogen Academy develops skills needed for the ecosystem emergence across all stakeholders.
To meet the strategic challenge of increasing the skills of the hydrogen ecosystem, Symbio, through its subsidiary Symbio Hydrogen Academy, unveiled at the end of 2024 the first digital training platform 100% dedicated to the hydrogen ecosystem.
This is the result of 3 years' work, during which Symbio led a consortium of 8 complementary partners, combining academic expertise with Mines Paris-PSL and ECAM LaSalle, private expertise with LGM, Sector Group and SHERPA Engineering, public expertise with Ineris Formation, institutional expertise with CARA and industrial expertise with Symbio.
This complementarity ensures that the training modules developed by Symbio Hydrogen Academy meet the highest standards of technical and pedagogical excellence, with regularly updated content. The platform will progressively host new content to further enhance the training offering.
Aimed at all audiences, from young people in initial training to technicians and engineers involved in the development of a hydrogen system. The platform is available in French and English.
The platform now hosts over 86 training modules on 4 key themes covering the entire hydrogen value chain: the industry, fuel cell technology, on-board systems, standards and regulations, with 2 levels of knowledge (“beginner” and “advanced”). This includes 40 hours of e-learning modules. Symbio Hydrogen Academy also offers face-to-face modules for a total of 518 hours.
This project is supported by the French government and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region as part of the “Ingénierie et Formation professionnelles et offres d'accompagnement innovantes” (IFPAI) program, the regional component of France 2030, operated by Banque des Territoires.
